LED technology wins adherents within the panorama of spanish hotel establishments. Technological advances in the field of lighting, the need to improve the balance sheets by saving and energy efficiency, the significant drop in prices of this technology and the current economic crisis is causing many hoteliers are raised and approve the replacement of the old traditional lighting based on incandescence by other more modern and efficient equipment.

This traditional lighting is being replaced with LED lamps, which account for a greater effort to short-term investment, but in the medium and long term are significantly more efficient.

The incorporation of this technology allows not only get great savings on electricity bills, but increase the chances of the different lighting environments hotel.

After several studies on consumption patterns in various hotels in the Basque Country, we found that electricity consumption for lighting accounts for approximately 45% of total electricity consumption, still within the average consumption of spanish hotels.

From this data the following is a sample of the study and implementation carried out in a 4-star city hotel and 45 rooms in which it undertook the replacement of 877 lamps of that establishment. We have worked on those key points are: reception, corridors, cafeteria, outdoor parking, management, kitchen and bedrooms. This jump to the LED lighting has enabled this setting a reduction of power consumption and a decrease in CO2 emissions of 83.71%, respectively.

Led lamps CO2 emissions

The lighting of the corridors was carried out with LED lamps 3 and 5 W replacing conventional halogen 50W, 20W and 9W, thus has achieved a saving of 85.43% over the previous month's electricity bill.

Led lamps energy savings

For this project we have chosen warm lighting, with a color temperature of 2700 K that mimics the color of a halogen lamp in kitchen have been replaced existing fluorescent lamp LED by 24 w, the reception's main concern was the replacement of conventional halogen lamps 35w and that these give the same brightness and warmth that previous and proposed use of LED lamps MVL-331WW195GH03ED 3w with GU10 socket, which has reduced consumption by 90%, we have also managed to remove the transformers Halogen old, falling between 5% and 10% and reducing consumption 463 kg / year of CO2 emissions.

Led lamps energy savings

We emphasize the advantages discussed, a saving of between 40% and 90% of energy depending on the areas studied, the durability of these bulbs from 6 to 8 times longer than traditional ones, their low maintenance, low temperature (at does not affect the air conditioning of rooms), flows similar or improved lighting, better power factor and low CO2 emissions.
